Review: Kat Burki

The Kat Burki essence is one of elegance, grace and style with a twist of tuberose. The Kat Burki lifestyle collection specializes in home furnishing and body and bath collections. Its products are prestigious by virtue of materials, workmanship, style and reputation. The Kat Burki line is recognizable by its signature medallion, Doré pattern and Tuberose scent.

Kat Burki Home is known for its dedication to philanthropic causes. Kat Burki Home has contributed to and participated in Super Saturday in the Hamptons which benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, L’Oreal Legends Gala in NYC, which also benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, The Carousel of Hope, Barbara Davis’ annual Hollywood event to help support her Center for Childhood Diabetes, Kids in Crisis in Greenwich Connecticut, that provides support and shelter for children in need of help, and Peace Over Violence in L.A.

I love the Signature Tuberose Candle ($52) that I received! If you like floral scents, this one will not disappoint. This candle has a nice perfumey smell that is intoxicating, but not overpowering. This clean cut white floral is simple, yet luxurious. Not only does this candle smell lovely, but I noticed that it burns clean and will last a long time! No home should be without a Kat Burki candle. You can also order a candle in Freesia & Pink Grapefruit or Lavender Lightly.

Lancôme and the CFDA Awards Part II

As promised, the looks for Arlenis Sosa and Lake Bell at the CFDA Fashion Awards are in!

Lancôme national makeup artist Tarek Abbas is Arlenis’ go-to makeup artist so it’s no surprise that he created the look for Arlenis on Monday evening. To create a polished complexion, Tarek applied Dual Finish in Matte Doré III and then added a touch of color to her cheeks using Color Design Cream Blush in Chic Cassis. To define her eyes, he used Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony on the lower lash line and applied Artliner in Noir to the upper lash line starting at the outer corner. Tarek wanted to give Arlenis a soft, shiny pout so he lined her lips with Le Lipstique in Sheer Chocolate, applied Le Rouge Absolu in Bordeaux and finished with a touch of Juicy Tubes in Dreamsicle.

Celebrity makeup artist Dara Klein created the look for actress Lake Bell. To prep the skin, Dara moisturized with Aqua Fusion Cream Moisturizer SPF15 and Progrès Eye for a soft, fresh surface. To accentuate LakeR17;s bold eyes, Dara applied one of her makeup artist techniques and created what she refers to as the “reversed catliner.” She first blended Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony and High Définicils mascara in black to the lower lash line and finished by lining Hypnôse Waterproof mascara in black to the outer corner of the eye. To finish the look, Dara applied Le Lipstique in Ideal to the contour of her lips giving her a beautiful natural pout. Go to http://daramascara.blogspot.com for more information on Lake Bell's look.

Review: Morganna's Alchemy

Morganna's Alchemy began in Europe as the brainchild of Maya Hyppolite, a cosmetic chemist with over fifteen years experience creating some of the most popular personal care products on the market. Applying her expertise to the world of cosmeceuticals, Maya quickly invented a line of skin care products.

Today, Morganna's Alchemy is based in the beautiful gulf coast of Florida and serves an international clientele united by a single goal - to remain as young and beautiful as nature, science and wisdom will allow.

Morganna's Enchantment ($39.99) is a powerful cream that is blended with natural oils, extracts and other ingredients that inhibits production of the hormones that are a leading cause of acne. This cream delivers anti-oxidants, collagen stimulators and other nutrients to treat existing outbreaks and prevent acne-related scars. This product has done wonders for my blemish outbreaks. Therefore, I highly recommend this product if you have problems with acne. It might be a tad pricey, but it is well worth it!

Lancôme Inside Scoop: CFDA Fashion Awards

Who was wearing Lancôme at the CFDA Fashion Awards last night? Here is the inside scoop on last night’s makeup looks straight from the makeup artists themselves.

Celebrity makeup artist Sandy Linter worked with Michelle Trachtenberg. She accentuated the eyes by first applying Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Porcelaine I as a shadow base, under eye base and skin corrector giving Michelle a silky soft complexion. Sandy then lined her eyes with Le Crayon Khôl in Black Coffee giving it a smudged effect for a soft contour. To accentuate her eyes even more, Sandy applied Color Design Eyeshadow in Click for a smoky look and Bikini Golden on the inside. She then coated Michelle’s eyelashes with Ôscillation vibrating mascara to give them an extended effect and finish the look.

Lancôme makeup artist Andrew Sotomayor created Mamie Gummer’s look. First Andrew applied Color Ideal Hydra Compact in Beige Diaphane and Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Light Bisque to give Mamie a flawless complexion. He then applied Color Design Blush in Retro Rouge to give her cheeks a fresh flush. To make Mamie’s eyes pop, Andrew first conditioned her lashes with the new Ôscillation Powerbooster and coated them with Définicils mascara in Aubergine Royale to give her lashes definition and length. He then defined her brows with Le Crayon Poudre in Taupe and applied Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony to the upper lash line. To finish the look, Andrew used La Laque Fever in Plum Wave to create a high-shine, vibrant pout.

Tallulah Willis popped by the Lancôme boutique on the Upper West Side where makeup artist Lena Lejak created her beautiful look. Lena applied Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Lézard on the lid and Color Design Eyeshadow in Exhibition to the crease of the eye and a touch of Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir to line the upper lash line and create a smoky look. To make her eyes pop even more, Lena applied Color Design Eyeshadow in Filigree to the brow bone and Garment to the lower lash line. She then coated Tallulah’s lashes with Définicils mascara in black. Next, Lena added color to the cheeks using Blush Subtil in Aplum. She finished the look by applying Le Crayon Lip Liner in Berry and Juicy Tubes in Cherry Burst to create a beautiful red lip.

Coming tomorrow, the looks for Lake Bell and Lancôme ambassador Arlenis Sosa. Stay tuned!

Review: CeleBritAy

Established in 1998, CeleBritAy offers natural health and beauty goods for men and women in an environmentally friendly fashion. This is a Victorian tradition that, sadly, has been ignored by most modern beauty product companies as they aim to reach the mass market and have chosen to replace natural products with man-made chemicals.

I absolutely love the Organic Olive Gift Set ($43) that I received from CeleBritAy. This set includes the Organic Olive Body Cream, Organic Olive Body Scrub, Organic Olive Lip Balm and Organic Olive Body Soap.

The body cream absorbs in my skin quickly, locks in moisture and leaves it unbelievably soft. I have been using this for a short period of time, and I love how it rejuvenates my sensitive skin without irritating it. I like how it is ideal for all skin types.

The lip balms (Organic Olive and Cherry Avocado) that I received look and feel like I'm wearing lip gloss. They are very moisturizing. When I went to Illinois to visit my dad, he was complaining about his lips being chapped. Much as I almost hated to, I gave him the Olive Oil lip balm and he seems to be quite impressed with it since it nipped the problem.

I've tried many scrubs, and quickly fell in love with theirs! The smell of their scrub is divine, and the results are amazing! It makes my skin super smooth and soft. It is pure luxury without the hefty price tag. It's not good as a body scrub, but you can add a scoop or two in your bath.

I also really liked the soap. Unlike most soaps, this one didn't make my skin feel dry afterward.

Needless to say, the Organic Olive Gift Set would make a wonderful gift!

Review: Miessence Travel Size Tropicana Body Milk

Organic and Natural Enterprise Group (or ONEgroup) is an Australian based company who creates and manufactures the world's first Certified Organic cosmetic products, haircare, health care, personal care and skincare. ONEgroup's range of products stand in a class of their own by being independently certified to international food grade standards by some of the world's most respected organic certifying organizations, namely, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), IFOAM (Europe) and Australian Certified Organic (ACO).

The Miessence Travel Size Tropicana Body Milk ($6.50) is lightweight and moisture rich. The best thing is that it is 100% natural free of synthetic chemicals and it's organic - BIG PLUS +++. It is infused with organic raw coconut oil that acts as a protective barrier against moisture loss. The organic aloe vera inner leaf gel will hydrate and nourish dry skin. It has an aroma of coconut and frangipani. The smell is delightful, yet light! Like most products, the smell doesn't linger on. However, the moisture will last throughout the day.

Want more? Sure, you do. It's also available in a bigger size for $23.50.

I Get Wrinkles While I'm Sleeping?!

We have sunscreen to prevent sunburn, but how do we prevent razor burn?! Get the answer on today's DermTV segment, How to Avoid Skin Irritation While Shaving. Stay tuned throughout the week as Dr. Schultz presents: How Often Should I be Checked for Sun Cancer?, Can You Get a Sunburn Through Glass Windows?, and Debunking Acne's Eight Greatest Myths.

Dr. Schultz also shared this amazing Tip of the Week:

When you think about sleeping, you usually think about it in terms of hours. For example, you slept eight hours last night. Let's however, take a step back, and think about it at a higher level. Not only did you sleep hours, but you slept 1/3 of the day. Now let's get even higher: assuming you're forty years old, you've slept for over thirteen years. And if you sleep on your side or stomach, that means your face has been, for lack of a better word, "smushed" against your pillow for thirteen years! Believe it or not, this weight against your face will create what are called "sleep wrinkles" and can even worsen existing lines. So to prevent sleep wrinkles and to help reduce existing facial lines, sleep on your back.

Review: The Lumene TIME FREEZE Instant Cooling Eye Stick ($21.99) is formulated with natural arctic heather along with plant sterols that are extracted from arctic white peat that will provide long-term wrinkle reducing benefits, and protect skin against future signs of aging. I was a bit taken back by the small size when I first received this product. However, I love the cooling effect that it provides. This product is a must have when you're out and about in the sun. It goes on easily, and most importantly, it doesn't irritate my eyes. It provides enough moisture that sinks into the skin quickly. Lumene TIME FREEZE Instant Cooling Eye Stick is recommended for all skin types and is the ideal product for puffiness and dark circles. I highly recommend using this product sparingly, due to the size, since a little bit goes a long way!

Review: CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara

Review:
So far I'm favoring the CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara ($7.65). I've tried many mascaras - from budget friendly to luxe. This is a new favorite of mine, and I have very few favorites when it comes to mascara. Even though this mascara isn't waterproof, it doesn't smudge or clump. The brush makes it easy to apply. It brings my lashes to life by adding length and volume, and it will actually last throughout the day! It removes easily without irritating my eyes like most mascaras. No need to hit the beauty counter when you can find this gem at the nearest drugstore! Do I have any complaints about this mascara? None whatsoever!

Leighton's MTV Movie Awards Beauty Look

MTV Movies Awards Red Carpet Beauty Look from COVERGIRL Makeup Artist Molly R. Stern:

Leighton Meester's look was sexy with an edgy feel. She wanted to look like herself while celebrating the rock ’n roll spirit of the night.

I started by basing her skin with Cle de Peau's new cream foundation in O20. For her blush I used Shiseido's Accentuating Powder Blush is Glistening Brown.

On her eyes, I based them with Vincent Longo's liquid eyeshadow in Midnight Mauve. Over that, on the inside lid into the crease, I dusted NARS night clubbing glittery powder eyeshadow.

Inside her eye both bottom and top, I lined her eyes with COVERGIRL Exact Eyelights Brightening Liner in Vibrant Pearl (NEW from COVERGIRL, hitting shelves in late July!!). Her mascara is COVERGIRL LashBlast Luxe in Black Emerald.

And to finish the look, she is wearing COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain in Cinnamon Smile.

To top it off, the Gossip Girl starlet rocked out the evening in an Emilio De La Morena cut-out dress, the new Brian Atwood Brie” purple suede booties and Cathy Waterman jewels.
