Votre Vu Review

Votre Vu is a luxe e-beauty house originating with fine French skin and hair care and expanding into handcrafted cosmetics with the 2012 debut of its French Accents premier color line. In addition, Votre Vu offers an award-winning, all-natural beauty beverage, SnapDragon, which is blended in the U.S.

Moreover, Votre Vu aims to reach out to those in need, with the start of its Color it Forward campaign in support of the St. Baldrick's Foundation and the 46 Mommas' campaign to treat and cure pediatric cancer. Specifically, Votre Vu donates $1 from every French Accents product purchased to the cause.

VU-ON ROUGE ($20.30; Available in Ma Cherry, Bouquet Rose, and French Tulip) functions as a lipstick and blush. I received the Ma Cherry, which I'd describe as a low key, yet rich shade of mauve. I normally don't really like mauve, so I didn't think it would look flattering on me, but it surpassed my expectations once it was applied on my lips and cheeks. Not only it imparts a wonderful color, but it's very moisturizing. However, it wears off quickly, so I've started blotting it on gently to extend the wearability.

EIFFEL POWER Mascara ($16.80; Available in Charbon) was inspired by no other than by Paris´ iconic Iron Lady. It gives my minuscule lashes the power that they need by fortifying and lengthening them with good-for-you ingredients - beeswax, carnauba, and sunflower. The XXL applicator is good for those lashes that are not always easy to reach. Best of all, no smudging!

I normally stick with liquid eyeliner, but the LE JOLI CRAYON ($16.10; Available in Charbon and Aubergine) is a soft liner that isn't smudging in the least. It doesn't lose its wearability as the day goes on, thanks to candelilla wax. Also, it comes with a pencil sharpener to ensure that your eyeliner stays in tip-top shape!

Natural Surface Scrubbing Mat: Solevation

Professional pedicures can be a deeply relaxing and pampering way to treat the feet, but they can also be costly if done on a regular basis. Not everyone can afford the luxury of getting a pedicure every few weeks, and some simply are not keen on the idea of someone else touching their feet. Therefore, there are many alternatives that are marketed to keep your feet from looking drab and unkempt.

This is where Solevation comes into play. It eliminates the need of costly pedicures, gadgets, files, creams, and brushes. There is also no need to take extra time to make it a daily requirement. All you need to do is place this mat in the shower, and shuffle your feet on it while you're showering. Not only it makes feet attractive by repairing damaged, cracked, and/or rough feet; it also deeply cleanses the soles. I usually follow up with a non-petroleum jelly, such as the one by Waxelene or Live Clean Baby, which helps maintain the softness.

I've been using the PedEgg for years to ensure that my feet look healthy and attractive. While the PedEgg is very affordable, I believe that the Solevation is relatively cheap at just $28.50 (it will usually cost this much for one trip to the salon or spa to get one pedicure).

Selma Valentine Review

Selma Valentine offers spa products that are made of the highest quality of premium ingredients. The best part about this product line is that it is 100% eco-friendly!

I received the Pink Sugar Reed Diffuser ($20; Also Available in Sun Bathe and Tropical Rain), Decadent Dessert Sugar Scrub ($15; Also Available in Summer Breeze and Jamrock), Sweet Sensations Whipped Body Butter ($15; Also Available in Happy Hour and Fresh Bloom), and the Cucumber Melon Candle ($15; Also Available in Citrus and Teakwood, Litsea and Basil, Water Blossom and Ivy, and Asian Spice).

Pink Sugar Reed Diffuser - I placed this in my daughter's nursery to keep it sweet-smelling and fresh. It has a light and charmingly sweet smell (thanks to essential oils of orange, eucalyptus, patchouli, and ylang-ylang) that isn't overpowering in the least. It's very reminiscent of Aquolina Pink Sugar, which is one of my favorite scents of all time! It is well priced at $20, because the scent will last for about 3 months. Each reed diffuser comes with eight 12" reeds.

Cucumber Melon Candle - I love burning candles, because it creates a warm and inviting atmosphere in the home. This candle emitted a strong and succulent scent (juicy green melon with a hint of orange zest and musk) when I first opened it, but sadly, it doesn't give off much fragrance when lit. It is still a pretty candle, nonetheless.

Sweet Sensations Whipped Body Butter - I absolutely love this body butter! Not all "whipped" body butters are the same, but this one was whipped with perfection. The consistency is light, so it deeply absorbs into the skin without making it feel sticky or oily, which is something I hate when it comes to bath and body products. I practically use it every day, especially after getting out of the shower and had exfoliated. It makes my skin ultra-smooth and supple.

It's relatively cheap, making it a must-have purchase for the cold weather that is lurking around the corner. Cold weather honestly doesn't affect my skin that much, but it's known to be harsh for some.

Decadent Dessert Sugar Scrub - This body scrub would be perfect for most skin types, because it isn't harsh in the least, yet it does a job well done by exfoliating and moisturizing the skin to ultimate perfection.

Get Glowing This Fall with Expert Skincare Tips

Beauty mavens, take note: your skincare routine should be shifting to transition from summer to fall, in more ways than one. With the arrival of the fall weather comes a slew of complications for the skin, including changing temperatures, wind, and, of course, dry air. With skin becoming more sensitive, it is more likely to become irritated. Below, Mechele Wilson, licensed esthetician and skin care educator for the HydraFacial(TM), provides five ways to get your skin in glowing condition for the new season.

1. Exfoliate. Exfoliation is extremely important in this changing of seasons because it removes the dead, flaking, and dehydrated skin cells from summer. By breaking down this barrier, it allows your skin to absorb the nutrients from products you use on your face and helps your skin to stay hydrated.

2. Hydrate. With the cooler weather and harsher wind, your skin is more likely to become dehydrated since there is a depletion of water in its protective layers. Moisturizing is crucial for all skin types, even oily skin. A moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid and antioxidants is best to keep your skin hydrated during these cooler months.

3. Nurture. What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on your body when it comes to your skin’s health. Make sure to drink a lot of fluids (especially water) to keep your skin hydrated. Also, eat foods with Omega-3’s, Vitamin C, and antioxidants to keep your skin healthy from the inside out.

4. Protect. Even though the sun is not as harsh and hot, damaging UV rays are still present; wear sunscreen. Sunburns from UVB rays are still possible, and UVA rays, which cause sun damage, have the same intensity all year long.

5. Rejuvenate. Many suggest a deep cleaning facial is important at the beginning of a season. It will cover all of your needs: exfoliating dead skin, extracting impurities, and delivering vital antioxidants and nutrients to protect and hydrate skin. This leaves the skin extremely soft and supple.
