Alicia Silverstone Collection for Juice Beauty Review

Purely, Organically Gorgeous

Juice Beauty, the California eco chic company known for offering high efficacy, yet authentically organic beauty products, is proud to announce a collaboration with actress and NY Times best selling author, Alicia Silverstone. The Alicia Silverstone Collection for Juice Beauty consists of everyday essentials for effortless beauty, from organic skincare to quick application organic color.

The collaboration started when Alicia and Karen Behnke, founding partner of Juice Beauty, realized that they shared the same life eco values. Alicia and Karen subsequently held their first meeting at an organic cafe in Los Angeles and a partnership was born. Alicia and Juice Beauty's team worked hard for over a year developing these very special products that will now premier worldwide. Not only are the ingredients cutting edge but the sustainable packaging is groundbreaking.

Alicia Silverstone is an actress (Clueless, Batman & Robin, The Art of Getting By, Butter, and The Crush), film and television producer, author (The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet), and animal rights and environmental activist.

After using this line for over a month, my favorites are the Simply Pure Chamomile Cleanser ($22), Simply Nourishing Moisturizer ($36), and Irresistible Glow Facial Highlighter ($22). I just started using a moisturizer earlier part of this year. I was barely able to use one in the past since my skin would break out easily. I still experience breakouts every now and then, but it isn't bad as it used to be since I'm nearing my 30s. I don't exactly have dry skin either, but I like to use products that will combat the early onset signs of aging. I love to alternate between their moisturizer and Jurlique's Purely Sun-Defying Moisturizer with SPF 15 Sunscreen ($58), because both deeply moisturize the skin with powerful anti-aging ingredients. They also give my face a warm and healthy glow.

The Irresistible Glow Facial Highlighter ($22) gives my cheeks a hint of a natural flush. The delightfully light shade of pink works with all skin tones. Antioxidant-rich passionfruit and hydrating essential oils contribute to the radiant glow that it gives. I also love Alicia's signature Purely Kissable Lip Color ($16). The light pink shade is simply gorgeous, but sadly I didn't really get to enjoy it much as the other products since this one came half melted. I can easily understand why since the weather has been insanely hot this summer.

Lastly, my least favorite product is the Simply Flawless Pressed Powder ($24). I simply don't really like powder to begin with, because I think it adds age to the skin. It also seems to accentuate fine lines. I didn't find their product to be any better than other powder out there, even though it is organic.

All five products in the collection are authentically organic and antioxidant-rich with luxurious ingredients, such as passionfruit, champagne grape, acai, goji berries, and minerals that are blended in organic aloe and shea butter base. All of the products are manufactured in environmentally friendly, recycled, and recyclable packaging. The skincare products are packaged in over 95% post-consumer recycled materials, while the make-up products are constructed with over 90% recycled pressed paper components.

Bobbi’s personal manicurist, Roza Israel, will set up shop for the grand opening, offering 10-minute manicures to consumers and commuters alike on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Just in time for the holidays, the pop-up shop will be the perfect location to stop in before or after work for makeup application or party touch-ups, or to stock up on gifts and stocking stuffers. To date, the brand plans to keep the shop open until January 2013.

"This pop-up shop will enable us to connect directly with our consumers,” says Maureen Case, President of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, “It will showcase some of the best elements from our global free-standing stores, will bring the best of Bobbi to life, and will have a halo effect on consumers shopping in other locations closer to home."

Store hours are M-F/ 8AM-8PM; SAT/10AM-7PM; SUN/11AM-6PM.

Bridal Beauty Blunders, Be Gone!

The last thing you need on the most exciting, happy and stressful day of your life is to worry about the way you look. That’s why when beauty problems happen on the big day, brides tend to panic and let it ruin the mood of elation that comes with such a wonderful time. Don’t sweat it: bridal beauty expert, Ashley Stone of Beauty Entourage, shares some of the worst beauty issues she’s witnessed, and how to deal with them.

Bridezilla Breakouts

Unfortunately, stress can be a serious factor when it comes to the health of your skin. For this reason, many brides find themselves with an unsightly blemish on the days leading up to their wedding. Ashley explains, “As much as you don’t want to think about it, spontaneous breakouts do happen, and all the bridezilla moments in the world won’t help the situation. I always tell my brides to relax and whip out my personal arsenal of coverage products. If you’re doing your own makeup for the big day, first apply a spot treatment, and then use your fingers to apply concealer to the blemish. MAC Studio Finish Concealer is water-resistant and makes skin look flawless. Every bride should have this product handy just in case!”

Hectic Hair

Hair is the biggest wildcard on the day of your wedding. Because it’s affected by everything from weather to stress to joyous dancing, having a stash of emergency products could be your saving grace on the big day. Ashley says, “Even with the best beauty team, things happen. And once your hair and makeup team goes home, you’re left to fend for yourself when it comes to touch-ups and quick fixes. Depending on the bride, I recommend certain products to be on hand. For example, if your scalp tends to get a little greasy in the heat, dry shampoo goes a long way to prevent that unwanted glean; my favorite is KMS Makeover Spray. Particularly if your hair is down, this will revive and add volume. If your hair frizzes in heat or humidity, it’s important to have an anti-frizz serum like Bumble and Bumble Defrizz for touch-ups. You need to know your hair and its habits, and plan accordingly.”

Maddening Makeup

What’s worse than sweeping your finger under your eye and finding mascara or liner? Doing that on your wedding day! Ashley suggests, “On the big day, the last thing you need to worry about is your makeup. Choose products that are long-lasting and stay put, allowing you to look flawless both in person and in your photos. I always recommend using a lip stain over a lipstick, where you can get the color you want without the worry of smudging. Make sure that you have a clear gloss to touch up throughout the day, which will keep the stain fresh and prevent it from drying out, as well as brighten the color. Also, if you’re a summer bride, invest in waterproof eye makeup and my personal favorite foundation, Laura Mercier’s Powder Foundation. This will set your makeup and keep your face from appearing shiny in your photos. Keep all of your beauty products stashed in the bridal suite, and enlist one of your bridesmaids to give you a hand.”

“I can’t say the next two words enough: trial run. The last thing you need is to be unhappy with your look on the day of your wedding. Make sure that either yourself or your beauty team crafts a style that reflects your own unique personality and that makes you feel beautiful. Because in the end, that’s all that matters!” says Ashley.
