With any flat iron, I highly recommend using a thermal protectant beforehand. The HANA Shine Shield Thermal Protectant came in handy, because I had recently run out of a thermal protectant. Not only it provided my hair the protection that it needed, but it also gave it superior shine. Not all thermal protectants are good for my hair, because I've had some to dry out my hair. As for the flat iron, I can't rave enough about it. It makes my hair sleek, sexy, shiny, and straight.
