Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb recently shared their favorite things on The Today Show and Kathie Lee's favorite thing is Yummy Mummy Nail Lacquer. On Monday night’s season finale of “The Sing-Off” judge Nicole Scherzinger showcased her sophisticated, chic style and powerful pipes during her performance of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” with Jerry Lawson & the Talk of the Town with a braided updo crafted by Sebastian Professional Stylist Design Team Member Janine Jarman.

Janine, who frequently works with Nicole Scherzinger and the Pussycat Dolls, dishes on how to achieve Nicole’s vintage meets modern Diana Ross updo – perfect for your own celeb-worthy holiday hairstyle!

1. Spray a generous amount of Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray from roots to ends to build in volume.

2. Slick back hair into a tight ponytail using Sebastian Professional Shine Define to smooth all of the bumps and fly-aways down.

3. Curl the ponytail with a 1” curling iron, spraying each section with Shine Define for thermal protection and added shine, then clip to cool.

4. Set 4 hair weft pieces as well with Shine Define and a 1” curling iron, also clipping to cool.

5. Unclip all of the curls, take 2” wide pre-braided piece of hair and pin in the front just above the hairline, then pin the wefts around the base of the ponytail.

6. Separate hair in 12-15 sections back combing each at the base while smoothing with a spritz of Sebastian Professional Shaper Zero Gravity.

7. Twist each section at the mid shaft and begin arranging around the ponytail and towards the nape, making sure to keep it balanced and symmetrical.

8. Secure with long hair pins, roller pins, and bobby pins while detailing with smaller hair pins.

9. Finish the look with Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper and Halo Mist for long-lasting hold and a lightweight shimmer and shine.

Soy Delites Candles Review

Their soy candles are handmade with care in Austin, Texas using 100% natural soy wax and cotton wicks. Clean burning and long lasting, Soy Delites Candles are your eco-friendly and healthy candle alternative.

They offer several styles to choose from, including tealights, votives, travel tins, and our signature glasses in a diverse array of alluring scents, like clean and invigorating Ginger Lemongrass or bold and sensuous Sandalwood Amber. At Soy Delites, they strive to make not only incredibly aromatic and clean burning candles, but they hope to give you a visually stunning and beautiful experience.

Soy candles are much better for our health and environment than traditional paraffin candles. Soy candles do not emit the soot. Not only do paraffin candles leave black residue on the containers they were burned in, but prolonged use of these candles can stain your walls, ceilings, curtains or blinds, and even carpets or rugs. Another benefit of soy wax is that it is a biodegradable product. This means it cleans up easily with just soap and warm water. You no longer have to worry about the mess paraffin makes when cleaning up your candle holders.

To date, the EPA (or any other organization) has not conclusively studied the long term health issues that may arise from burning paraffin wax candles compared to burning soy candles. However, the EPA did find organic chemicals and known carcinogens, such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein in paraffin wax. In addition, Rezaei et al. studied the combustion characteristics of soy, paraffin and beeswax candles, and they concluded that measurable amounts of formaldehyde were detected when burning paraffin candles.

My Thoughts: I received a Set of 2 Glass Candles in the scents of my choice, Bergamot and Fruit Explosion. With 75 hours of burning time, these slow-burning candles are a steal if bought as a set since you save save 17%. They also offer 20 different tantalizing fragrances such as Orange Vanilla, Rose, Ginger Lemongrass, Gardenia, Mint, Ginger Sandalwood, Spice, Midnight Fig, etc. I love both scents, because they are both uplifting and livens up the atmosphere. The Fruit Explosion has a beach-ready blend of mango, pineapple, peach, and coconut. You can mentally picture yourself basking in the sun, while sipping on a fruity concoction. The Bergamot is a refreshing and crispy scent of citrus that will drive away the ho-hum winter blues. I'm certainly no stranger to Bergamot since it is used in one of my favorite teas, Earl Grey.

Available:
5 oz Glass Candle ($8.50), 5 oz Glass Candles (Set of 3) ($21), Unscented Tealights (Set of 10) ($7), Scented Tealights (Set of $10) ($9), Tins (Set of 4) ($20), Tin Candle ($6), Accessories ($1 - $9), Votives ($1 - $10), 9 oz Glass Candle ($12), and 9 oz Glasses (Set of 2) ($20).

ARROJO's Amanda Jenkins - New Years Resolutions for Your Hair

Everyone wants to start off the New Year on the right foot. So, many of us put resolutions in place to try to improve our lives and get a fresh start every time January 1 rolls around, whether it’s vowing to spend more time with friends, or to get our finances in order, or to take better care of ourselves including our hair.

Amanda’s Healthy Hair Tips:

· When it comes to hair color application, don’t cut corners. When in doubt, leave it to a professional.
· Don’t pick at split ends. Instead, get regular trims every 6 to 8 weeks.
· Don’t take your stress out on your hair. Tightly twisting it causes breakage.
· Deep condition once a week (bi-weekly if your hair is dry or curly, which makes it prone to dryness)
· Try to only use hot tools for a maximum of three times a week. Remember to give your hair a break and let it air dry when you can.
· Don’t shampoo everyday when you shower. Instead, just wet hair and condition or use a shower cap and apply dry shampoo afterwards to absorb odors and oils.

Can Melatonin Reverse the Signs of Aging of the Skin?

Melatonin is a key ingredient in Youth Corridor Antioxidant Boost ($125), by Dr. Gerald Imber. To most people it is simply a drug to help fight jet lag. It’s actually an important, naturally occurring compound found in all cells. Its effect on the body rhythms is due to potent antioxidant activity - among the most potent in the body. Vitamin C and vitamin E are antioxidants as well, but not as ubiquitous and not nearly as powerful as MELATONIN.

When Vitamin C penetrates the skin it stimulates collagen synthesis and reverses aging. The problem is getting the vitamin C into the skin. It is unstable and penetrates poorly. When vitamin E is added, the combination shows more antioxidant activity, probably because of better penetration and stability in combination. But when tiny amounts of MELATONIN are added to the mix the results are dramatically better, and far more pronounced antioxidant activity is obvious.

MELATONIN is crucial in the life of cells, and though its precise method of action in combination with vitamins C and E is unknown, the result is a big step forward in maintaining healthy, youthful skin and reversing sun damage.

$2 Urban Decay Sale at HauteLook

This sale isn't a hit and miss, because HauteLook will be selling Urban Decay products at the mind-blowing price of just $2! Be sure to sign up for HauteLook if you haven't already since this is one sale that true beauty fiends shouldn't miss out on. The sale will start tomorrow at 11 AM EST.

@UrbanDecay411:
It's true - we're hitting HauteLook with a mindblowing $2 Sale - everything will be $2 (yes, we mean brushes too!)

One day, long ago, Sandy Lerner (cofounder of Cisco Systems) couldn't find the right shade of purple nail polish to satisfy her alternative make-up tastes. Her lamentations over the fact that there were 500 colors of pink polishes, but no greens or purples motivated her to create Urban Decay Cosmetics. A woman of action, Sandy teamed up with David Soward "the token suit" and Wende Zomnir "creative dynamo". They collectively unleashed her vision on the cosmetics world in January of 1996. The line of alternative colors, which began with 10 shades of lipstick and 12 shades of nail enamel, appeared in a memorable advertisement with the tagline, "Does Pink Make You Puke?"

Apparently, the company had its finger on the button of alternative culture. Under Zomnir's creative direction, the trend-setting cosmetics company became famous for color names like Roach, Smog, Rust, Oil Slick and Acid Rain - inspired by the beautiful hues of America's urban landscape. This fresh approach has redefined how both consumers and the cosmetics industry look at color.

The often imitated ten-year-old company - whose dramatic nail, lip and eye colors have been featured on runways, television, in movies and magazines - is also distinguished by its line-up of trend-setting products and concepts. Urban Decay brings cutting-edge innovation to more mainstream products like its beautiful Eye Shadow, Lip Gunk, Urban Camouflage Concealer and cruelty-free brushes.

Liz Earle Naturally Active Haircare Review

Botanical Shampoo and Botanical Shine conditioners compose Liz Earle's first ever haircare range. Using 15 years of botanical expertise, they have created a unique plant-based shampoo that suits all hair and scalp types and 3 performance driven creamy conditioners, each designed to suit specific hair types.

I don't always have a good experience with every shampoo out there, especially the ones that claim to be for all hair types, but I love the Botanical Shine Shampoo ($7.50 - $14.50). With an earthy scent, this shampoo is probably one of the best smelling shampoos I've tried so far. While it doesn't rank as the best shampoo out there, it certainly isn't far behind. After getting highlights a few months ago, my hair hasn't been feeling thick and luxurious as usual and this shampoo puts this feeling back whenever I use it. Plus, it doesn't strip my hair of it's natural oil like some shampoo has a tendency to do. It is made with West African shea butter, natural source vitamin E, shine-boosting apple, and orange extracts plus naturally derived cleansers.

Most conditioners are a hit and miss with me. Therefore, I wasn't really expecting much from the Botanical Shine Conditioner ($7.50 - $14.50). I was in for a rude, yet lovely awakening when I first tried it on my hair. With 95% natural ingredients, it leaves my hair utterly soft and tangle free! The only thing is that it doesn't smell good as the shampoo, but that doesn't matter to me in the least since I'm far more concerned about the quality of a product.

ILARI Perfume Review

As young twenty-something women looking for love in New York, ILARI creator Hillary Schneider unintentionally designed her own personal "Love Potion Number Nine" - a complex mixture of scented oil, body lotion, and mist that individually captured her attention over the years. Wearing all the layered fragrances rendered Hillary magnetic - being stopped in shops, restaurants, and on the streets became the norm for her. One night, outside a downtown restaurant, an attractive fellow diner remarked on her scent saying, "I could fall in love with women who smells beautiful as you..." Alas, Hillary married this gentleman and the rest is history! It isn't doubtful that she wore this perfume on her wedding day. ILARI became the opus of Hillary's quest to package that unforgettable magic and share it women everywhere.

Jasmine doesn't rank as one of my top favorite scents. Amongst Sandalwood, Musk, Ebony Wood, and Orange Blossom; Jasmine is one of the top notes in this perfume though. However, there are no drawbacks when it comes to this scent since my experience has been enchanting as well. It is sophisticated, romantic, and dainty; which makes it perfect to wear on any occasion. The dry down of this fragrance is equally bewitching as well. It is subtle, yet mysterious. This is truly a scent that sweet dreams are made of. It wouldn't come as a surprise that a man would fall for a woman wearing this scent. At $65 for a 0.35 fl. oz. bottle, you can probably make history as well.

ILARI is available at Barneys New York, LA, Chicago stores, Barneys.com, and at http://www.ilarinyc.com.

Tips from Celebrity Manicurist Beth Fricke

Beth Fricke’s skill, attention to detail and trend-setting style has established her as one of the most prominent manicurists in the fashion, beauty and entertainment industries. She has done covers for such prestigious magazines as Elle, Deutsch Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Nylon, Redbook, Angeleno and Black Book. She has developed an impressive celebrity roster including Drew Barrymore, Sheryl Crow, Heidi Klum, Mariska Hargitay, Miranda Kerr, Christina Ricci, Mariah Carey and Lindsay Lohan. Fricke is currently serving as an O∙P∙I Celebrity Manicurist. Additionally, she has contributed to various publications on emerging trends and nail care including Glamour, 944, US Weekly and Genlux. We went behind the scenes with this expert for her insights on choosing the right shade, nail care and manicures.

They say that nail condition is an important indicator of health. What irregularities should we look for and what health problems to they point to?

White spots can be an indicator of diet issues or damage (like a smashed finger). Ridges in the nail can be from too dry cuticles or damage. Purple or blue looking nails or hands are indication of circulatory issues.

How can you extend the life of a manicure?

The best, easiest way is to put an additional coat of topcoat on and then apply oil to the cuticles.

What nail colors are complimentary on all skin tones?

There are some sheers and slightly darker reds that seem to work pretty universally.

Why should we use different products to moisturize our nails than for our hands?

When we moisturize hands, we are trying to moisturize the skin. When we do nails, we are trying to moisturize parts under the skin or the layered nail, that both require substantially more penetration.

What tips do you recommend to ensure a perfect manicure at home?

File the nails the same shape. Clean out under the nails to make sure there are no rough edges or corners. Gently buff over the top of the nail and cuticle with a soft (220 grit or higher) buffer and then brush them with a wet nail brush.
Before you polish, wipe the nail with some polish remover to remove any oils. Make sure you hit the outer edge of the nail with polish and with the top coat to seal it in.

Zach's Wax Review

Zach's Wax is a bit out there, wild, colorful, temporary, but best of all, it's fun! Whether you want to show team spirit, make a costume stand out, make a sleepover extra special, spice up a boring office meeting, or make a picture memorable; this is a crazy and fun way to do it. Zach’s Wax Extreme Color Gels ($9.99) are water soluble, easy to apply and exceptionally friendly to noncommittal types.

I didn't take any pictures, but I love using Zach's Wax in my son's hair and mine too since it is temporary and washes out with one shampoo. Application is easy since each tube comes with a mascara-like wand and gloves to make it less messy. Despite our dark brown hair, Zach's Wax still stands out. I chose the blue for my son and I chose the pink and red for myself. I've never used colored hair products on my hair prior to this. Therefore, this is a fun and interesting experience for me. Family and friends get a kick out of our colorful hair!

Zach’s Wax Extreme Color Gel is sold for $9.99, but you can buy a set of three (and get 1 free) for $29.99 or buy a set of 6 (and get 2 gels and 2 backpacks free) for $59.95.

Zach's Wax also sells non-colorful and premium hair products: Extra Firm Hold Clear Gel ($14.99), Zach’s Molding Cream ($15.99), and Zach’s Pomade ($15.99).

Tried and True Touch-Up Tips for a Fiercely Festive Holiday Party Season

The holiday party season is here and you’ll probably be going out straight from work to these festive functions. As the day goes by, even the best-applied make up will slip and fade. Here are some quick touch-ups tips to help you get that “freshly applied” look you started the day with.

- Remove all of your lipstick and lip liner. You’ll want a fresh application to go with your revived make up. Apply a light layer of lip conditioner to soften and smooth your lips while you touch up the rest of your face.

- If things look too messy or dark under the eyes, use a Q-Tip with a little moisturizer to clean the area. Yes, I said moisturizer – it works great for quick cleanups and won’t break down the makeup you apply over it.

- If your eye-shadow has creased or eyeliner has run, blot the area gently with a tissue, then use a brush or sponge to smooth out the remaining color. Apply a little translucent pressed powder over the area to catch any excess oil and then reapply shadow and liner as needed to make your eye makeup look fresh again.

- If you have oily skin, blot away any excess by laying a blotting tissue over a make up sponge and press it lightly over the shiny areas on your face. Do this before you do anything else.

- Once the excess oil on your skin has been blotted, remove the blotting tissue and use the sponge to smooth out your foundation, concealer and blush (women with dry and normal skin should also follow this step). Use a gentle buffing motion, making sure to smooth all edges as you go.

- Use your favorite foundation to touch up blemishes, faded areas and around the mouth. Blend with the sponge or your fingers.

- Apply a little foundation or concealer under the eyes to highlight and brighten the center of your face.

- Lightly dust translucent powder over the face (kabuki brushes are best for this step) to set make up and give you a soft, smooth finish.

- Apply more blush or bronzer and finish with a touch of highlight powder on the tops of your cheekbones.

- Finally, blot off any excess lip conditioner and reapply lip liner and lipstick.

- Shimmering eyes-shadow brushed lightly over the lid.
- Extra black eyeliner smudged with a brush or Q-tip for a sexy, smoky effect.

- A dab of luscious high shine gloss with a burst of shimmering sparkle over your lipstick to give it holiday gleam.
