Review: Clarisea

Like many acne sufferers Alison Ruth's skin problems started in high school and only got worse as she got older. She visited numerous dermatologists, tried every topical and oral acne treatment out there, but nothing worked! She even gradually developed horrible back acne as well. It got to a point where she couldn't wear a t-shirt in the middle of summer because her neck and arms were completely broken out. Needless to say, her social life, mood and confidence were all being affected.

The summer after college she finally found some hope. She was staying at the beach for a month and the ocean water was unusually warm so she was going for a swim a couple times each day. It was impossible not to notice that her skin was clearing up. It was amazing and such a relief! While it did prevent a complete breakout resurgence, it was not a long term solution until she discovered sea salt.

Soaking in sea salt had the same effect as soaking in the ocean. Five years and dozens of sea salts later, she finally found it! A blend of 2 precious salts that's gentle enough for delicate facial skin yet strong enough to banish the blemishes. She finally found the answer to all of her acne woes. This was how her line, Clarisea was born.

With combination skin, I never know what to expect. Some days are really good, and other days I have problems with breakouts, oiliness and blackheads. Therefore, I'm always looking for something that will help treat and prevent acne. I'm tired of the products that make empty promises of treating acne in a matter of days, easily and effortlessly. After reading Alison Ruth's story, the mystery of Clarisea piqued my curiosity.

I received the Complete Face Set, which includes Clarifying Salt Treatment, Purifying Facial Cleanser and Perfecting Clay Mask ($42). I also received the Collapsible Bowl ($12) to use in conjunction with the Salt Treatment.

I've been soaking my face in the Clarifying Salt Treatment with lukewarm for about 2 minutes every other day. I've noticed that since I've been using this treatment that it has been cutting down on blemishes majorly. The problem seem to get worse before it got better when I first started out with this treatment. I guess this was it's way of getting rid of nasty bacteria that was lurking underneath the skin. Surprisingly, I don't experience any kind of dryness with this product. You can use this treatment in the Collapsible Bowl or soak a washcloth with the Clarifying Salt Treatment (Alison Ruth's tip). Personally, I love using the bowl since it so relaxing.

The Purifying Facial Cleanser helps get rid of bacteria and dead skin cells while increasing cell regeneration. This scrub cleanser is good for even the most gentle skin since it is non-abrasive. It includes microbead millicapsules that will release the essential Vitamin E to soothe your skin while attacking those pesky impurities. I use this at least 3 times a week, but I believe you could get away with using this everyday if you wanted to.

The Perfecting Clay Mask is a deep cleansing, clarifying mask made of kaolin clay, which is a good facial remedy that has been used for thousands of years. It is suitable for all skin types, including dry skin since it doesn't zap natural moisture. Instead, it will help eliminate excess oil on the surface of skin and impurities that lurk underneath. It has helped a great deal with the blackheads, which is usually my biggest skin woe. You can also use this product as a spot treatment.

I will most definitely order more of the Clarifying Salt Treatment ($18 - $25.50) once my supply is depleted.
